India, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan in the list, as Ukraine Resumes E-Visa for 45 Countries
Kyiv, Ukraine – February 20, 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has announced the resumption of its electronic visa (e-Visa) program, effective February 19, 2025, marking a significant step toward revitalizing international travel and diplomacy. The Department General for Consular Service confirmed that citizens of 45 countries, including India, Bhutan, Maldives, and Nepal, can now apply for e-Visas to enter Ukraine, streamlining the process for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.
Ukraine had stopped issuing electronic visas (e-Visas) in early 2022 due to the Russian attack that began on February 24, 2022. The e-Visa system allows eligible foreigners to apply online, eliminating the need for in-person embassy visits. Applicants can submit their forms, upload required documents, and pay a fee through a secure digital platform, with processing times expected to range from a few days to a week. The move is seen as part of Ukraine’s broader effort to rebuild its global connections and boost its economy amid ongoing recovery efforts.
Eligible applicants can apply for e-Visas for a range of purposes: tourism, private visits, business, educational, cultural, and scientific endeavors, as well as journalism, sports, and medical treatment. The process is fully digital, requiring only an online form, uploaded documents, and a fee. The full list of countries and application details are available on the Ministry’s website: https://mfa.gov.ua/en/consular-affairs/entry-and-stay-foreigners-ukraine/e-visa.
Travel agencies and local businesses in Ukraine have welcomed the news. The resumption of E-Visas underscores Ukraine’s push to rebuild tourism and trade. Local businesses, from Lviv’s cafés to Odesa’s clinics, are preparing for an influx of visitors.
Electronic visas (e-Visas) for foreigners were introduced in Ukraine on April 4, 2018. This allowed citizens from certain countries to apply for a visa online without the need to visit the consulate.
The e-Visa resumption comes at a pivotal moment as Ukraine seeks to project resilience and openness. Authorities expect the program to expand further, with additional countries potentially added later in 2025, pending evaluations of its initial success.
