New Delhi, June 25, 2025 – Tibet House, New Delhi, is set to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on July 6, 2025, with a year-long celebration titled the “Year of Compassion.” This tribute honors the Dalai Lama’s lifelong dedication to compassion, peace, and universal ethics, recognizing him as a global “Ambassador of Compassion” whose teachings transcend borders and beliefs.

The year-long program will feature a diverse array of events and initiatives, blending cultural, intellectual, and spiritual elements to reflect the Dalai Lama’s enduring legacy. A centerpiece of the celebration is the screening of Wisdom of Happiness, a documentary directed by Barbara Miller, Philip Delaquis, and Manuel Bauer, with contributions from Richard Gere and Oren Moverman. The film offers an intimate exploration of the Dalai Lama’s life, weaving together his journey through exile, suffering, and his teachings on finding joy.

Tibet House will also release a series of publications, including research journals, essays, and books on Universal Ethics. Among them is The Four Commitments, a compilation encapsulating the Dalai Lama’s vows to promote humanity, religious harmony, the preservation of Tibetan culture, and the revival of ancient Indian wisdom. A special focus on ecology will highlight his insights into the intersection of inner well-being and environmental crises.

A series of panel discussions will explore the Dalai Lama’s relevance in the modern world. The panel “Universal Ethics in the 21st Century” will delve into his human-centered message of alleviating suffering through wisdom and emotional hygiene, drawing from the ancient Nalanda tradition. Another session, “Quantum Physics, Neuroscience, and Buddhist Philosophy of Arya Nagarjuna,” will highlight his pioneering Mind and Life Dialogues, which bridge Buddhist philosophy with modern science. His openness to revising traditional beliefs in light of scientific evidence underscores his intellectual humility.

Cultural performances by the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts will bring the melodies and movements of Tibet’s exiled heritage to life, while a discussion on Voice for the Voiceless will reflect on the Dalai Lama’s advocacy for marginalized communities. A traditional shop at Tibet House will offer incense, prayer flags, butter lamps, thangka paintings, and malas, each item a symbol of Tibetan ritual and resilience.

Throughout the year, Tibet House will host conferences and monthly talks on topics such as Universal Ethics, Equality, Science, and Ecology, fostering the kind of open dialogue championed by the Dalai Lama. On social media, “90 Quotes for 90 Years” will share daily pearls of his wisdom, offering moments of reflection amid the digital noise.

Exhibitions will showcase the Dalai Lama’s authored works, a map tracing his dramatic 1959 escape from Tibet, and a collection of global honors bestowed upon him, including his 1989 Nobel Peace Prize. Poignant photo exhibits will capture both the solemn and joyful moments of his life as a monk, refugee, and moral guide.

A heartfelt tribute will come from students of Nalanda, who will create a photo collage of their faces forming the Dalai Lama’s image, accompanied by testimonials from youth worldwide expressing gratitude for his boundless compassion.

As the Dalai Lama enters his 90th year, this celebration is all about embracing Dalai Lama’s vision of a more compassionate, attentive, and human world.
