Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in an internal meeting with government members urged them not to fear Trump’s threat of taking over Bagram airbase

.Known popularly as Abdul (he is also viewed as being pro-Trump) he told the members during the meeting that he disconnected a call from President Trump,” according to a source.

However, members of Taliban are reportedly losing their confidence and some have got hold of their passports to escape Afghanistan.

“Some members of the government have stop performing their duties. There is speculation within Afghanistan that during the recent Internet outage two U.S. military aircraft landed at Bagram airbase,” the source added.

It may be recalled that President Trump has been stating that the U.S. would be taking over the Bagram airbase from the Taliban leadership to fortify its position in the region.

Bagram Airport, was one of the largesr and most precious assests of the US military in the region. When it was fully operational, it was like a big city hosting about 10,000s of US & other NATO military personnel along with Afghans.

Meanwhile, Abdul who is the co-founder of the Taliban, is considered one of the government’s most powerful figures, often seen representing the government in economic and diplomatic matters.

He has been scouting for investments and focusing on economic development.

A few weeks back he attended and delivered a speech at a conference focused on attracting investment and supporting Afghanistan’s power sector. He also held meetings with Iranian officials in Kabul to discuss trade, investment, and transit routes
